The following guide is to encourage your own prayer life and to help you pray for the needs of the people and ministries of Grace Baptist Church. If you have requests to share with the congregation, please fill out a card or contact me by e-mail. As new requests come in, older ones will drop off but feel free to contact me with updates. I'd only ask that if you're submitting a request on behalf of someone else, please make sure to ask their permission first.
Read Psalm 149
1. Praise the God who takes pleasure in His people
Let them praise his name with dancing,
making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!
For the LORD takes pleasure in his people;
he adorns the humble with salvation.
The psalm lifts up praise to God, declaring Him to be our Maker (v. 2) and King (v. 2). It speaks of the salvation that God gives to the humble (v. 4) and the pleasure that He takes in His people (v. 4), which is remarkable because we know how unworthy we are.
2. Pray for the joy of God’s people
Let the godly exult in glory;
let them sing for joy on their beds.
The wonder of God’s love and grace should move us to joy. The psalm calls for praise (v. 1), new songs (v. 1), gladness (v. 2), rejoicing (v. 2), dancing (v. 3), and even singing for joy on our beds (v. 5). It’s easy to forget how good God has been to us and lose the joy God wants us to have in Him.
