What non-Christians can teach us about our witness
Listening to our Press
I believe in the power of the Gospel and I’m excited to see Jesus change people’s lives in Richmond Hill as we passionately represent Him here. But it’s easy to get discouraged. I think there are more opportunities to testify to Christ to our family, co-workers and neighbours, if there’s a humble integrity to our lives and we look for the opportunities that God gives.
The following article gives the top seven comments made about Christians in thousands of interviews with unchurched non-Christians. 7 Comments Made About Christians
Some of them are very hopeful; some of them cause us to think:
- Christians are against more things than they are for.
- I would like to develop a friendship with a Christian.
- I would like to learn about the Bible from a Christian.
- I don’t see much difference in the way Christians live compared to others.
- I wish I could learn to be a better husband, wife, dad, mom, etc., from a Christian.
- Some Christians try to act like they have no problems.
- I wish a Christian would take me to his or her church.
I’d encourage you to read the full article at the link above and consider your interactions with non-Christians. Do you have a positive witness or would people say you’re a complainer? Do you take time to develop relationships with non-Christians and humbly talk about how the Bible helps your life practically? Are you open about your struggles and ask non-Christians questions or do they see you as someone who just likes to give answers? When was the last time you invited a non-Christian to church?
Matthew 9:37-38 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Let’s pray God would send all of us out as His workers and that we might see the harvest that He has prepared.
In awe of Him,
Paul
