We all worship something, whether spiritual or physical; today's text helps us examine what is true and authentic worship, and how we can live in it every day.
Romans 1:18-25
When tragedy strikes, people ask many questions of God and struggle with pat answers. This passage presents us with a question that tragedy forces us to ask and shows us how one person answered it.
Job 6:1-22
In a world convulsing with violence, corruption, disaster, and bitter divisions, what’s the value of spending an hour or so in church? Multiplied millions of Christians worldwide do so, and this week we’ll explore why in this Psalm.
Psalm 122:1-9
As we heed Paul’s warnings about how a church falls off the rails, this message examines what is expected of the church when it meets to worship the Lord. We’ll look at how the Bible shows us the essential priorities of a worship service.
1 Timothy 2:1-7
Saul has it all, and yet he’s troubled in his spirit. David is a poor servant, and yet because God is with him, he’s able to relieve the king’s oppression. This message looks at how “God with us” enables us to minister to others.
1 Samuel 16:14-23
People often turn to worship to find meaning and fulfilment in their lives. This is the right impulse! Yet, it is easy to follow through in the wrong ways and end up dissatisfied or even hurt. In this sermon, we turn to ancient wisdom and discover the essential principles that will ensure your worship is effective, refreshing, and life-giving.
Do you know God as He has revealed himself in His Word? We can only do what God requires if we understand who He is. The message on Micah is one of judgment but also of hope for those who put their trust in the God of the biblical revelation who is like no other.
When we hear of Jesus’ miracles, we can either feel cynical or disappointed if we don’t see Him respond in the same way in our lives. This message looks at why Jesus healed people and why He doesn’t always heal people today.
Sometimes, especially recently, we all feel like we are in a dark tunnel, just waiting for the light to come at the end. In Psalm 57 we find David literally stuck in a cave and afraid for his life, but still praising God. This message looks at the prayer that God gives him, and how we too can find our refuge in God and realize that He is our light, even while still in the dark times.
It’s easy to be weighed down by bad news and disappointment. We can complain about the bad stuff and be complacent about the good stuff. This psalm teaches us how to find our joy in God no matter what we’re facing.
Stress brings out the worst in all of us. While we’re all affected by COVID-19 differently, most of us are experiencing added pressure. We will either turn to God for relief or something else. What we place our hope in is critical. According to the Bible, worship is the act of declaring our hope and identifying our ultimate allegiance. This message looks at how to worship God in a pandemic and find relief from the false hope that we might otherwise trust.
Many books and movies tackle the theme of coping with hardship. Usually, the take-away is that human willpower conquers all adversity. But most of us have come to learn that willpower has its limits. If we think that God might help, then we often struggle to understand how. This message looks at specific steps we can take to find hope in circumstances that feel hopeless.
How do you respond to God’s blessings in your life? Some people take them for granted. Other people try to even accounts with God. But the Bible paints a different picture of how we can honour God for His grace in our lives. This message looks at a Syrian general’s response to God’s healing and teaches us how to respond to God’s grace.
There are many surprises in the Christmas story, but perhaps nothing quite as surprising as who shows up for the birth. The wise men who bring gifts for the baby are the most unlikely worshippers of the Christ child and the obstacles they overcame to get to Him inspire our own journey of hope. This message looks at what the wise men teach us about overcoming the obstacles that keep us from true worship.
Matthew 2:1-12 // No outline
It’s popular for people to say today that, ‘We all worship the same God.’ But is that a meaningful statement? According to the Bible it’s not whether we worship a being that we call ‘God’ that’s important but rather what we believe about the God that we worship. Today’s message offers three questions to help understand whether the God that you worship is, in fact, the God of the Bible.
Worship is the first and primary area where God expects to see our response to His love. And yet we often bring Him worship leftovers. We give our devotion to the world and assume that God will be happy with a better-than-nothing offering of our lives. This message examines the anatomy of worship leftovers and God’s antidote to it.
There’s a spiritual dimension to life that many people are blind to. Faith helps us to see decisions more clearly and understand reality in all its facets. This message looks at how to engage our faith to see life more clearly.
